Summary: Kris Allen is home from college and looking for a summer job. He gets a call from his cousin who works security for a venue in Little Rock. Famous pop star Adam Lambert is in town for a big concert, but one of his bus drivers fell and broke his leg. They need someone immediately to fill in for a couple of months. Kris jumps at the chance and gets the job and he ends up driving Adam’s bus.

They travel mostly at night when most people sleep, but Adam has insomnia so he is up talking to Kris... Kris can't help but fall for Adam even though he has no intention of letting on. Adam has a high maintenance, diva boyfriend back home who makes him miserable. Will Adam realize that Kris is the one for him? Or will Kris make the first move to convince Adam to dump his boyfriend for someone more laid back?

Driving Me Crazy Chapter 11

The bus pulled into the parking lot of the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.  This would be the final show of the tour and was bittersweet for most of the crew as it would also be their last day on the job.  Kris was nervous, too.  He was meeting Adam’s mom tonight for dinner and then his friends at a club that night.  It was also their last hotel night and he didn’t know what was next for him and Adam.

Dave had arranged for everyone who wasn’t local to Los Angeles, their travel home, fully paid for.  That had included Kris, too.  And he was due back at school in three weeks and wanted to spend some time at home before he was off again.

Kris walked back to Adam’s lair like he always did now, shutting the door as he peeled off his clothing.  He loved the feel of his lover’s body wrapped around his.  Adam, sleeping soundly, stirred and smiled as Kris snuggled next to him.  This is it, he thought to himself.  Our last time in the bus like this.

Kris slept for a while, but was woken up to the most delicious feeling in world.  “Oh God, Adam, that feels good.”

“Just relax, baby,” and he went back to swallowing his lover’s cock.  The beautiful sounds that came out of Kris turned Adam on so.  He really wanted to flip his boy over and fuck him into the mattress, but Tommy and Brian were probably awake by now, so…

Reading his mind, Kris says, “I’ll be quiet, I promise”

Popping off and looking up at Kris with an evil grin, he grabbed the lube, quickly sheathing on a condom and entering Kris at once.  “Oh fuck, baby.”

Dinner with Adam’s mom was perfect.  Kris was polite and sweet and Leila could tell right away that Adam was happier than he’d ever been with Jason.

“So, Kris.  What are your plans after the tour?”

“Oh, well, I start school in a couple of weeks.”

“You do?”  Adam knew it, but had sort of forgotten that Kris had another life waiting for him, in Arkansas.

“Yeah,” Kris answered, sadly.  “I mean, that’s the plan.  I’m going home first to spend some time with my family and…”

“Well, it seems as though you two have some things to work out, don’t you?”  She said like a true mom.

“I have off for the next couple of weeks before I start recording again.  Maybe I could come with you?”  Then he immediately regretted saying it.  “I mean, if you want.  I’m sure you have things to do… never mind.”

He was looking down at his plate and didn’t see the big ass grin on his boyfriend’s face.  “You want to meet my mom, too?”

Adam looked up, “Well, yeah.”

“Aw, looks like you two will figure this out.”

After dinner, they walked Mrs. Lambert to the car.  “I’ve watered all your plant and straightened up a bit.  Someone left it a mess, and…”  She didn’t mean to mention Jason.

“Thanks, mom,” Adam covered, giving his mom a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

“Kris, it was so nice to meet you.  Don’t be a stranger, alright?”

“Thanks, Mrs. Lambert.”

“Leila,” she quickly corrected him.  “Please.”

Kris gave her a hug too and then they took off to the club to meet Adam’s friends.  They’d be a tougher sell.  Adam had already told Sutan, Brad and Cassidy all about his new bo, but they were skeptical.  They’d googled him and everything and found nothing on the guy, except some old article about him from high school winning a singing competition or some shit.  That actually made them suspicious.

“Come here, big guy,” they heard some little dark haired southern boy squeal as Adam was wrapped in a hug by one of his oldest friends, and an ex.
“Brad,” Adam hugged him back.

“So, Kris, right?”  Brad stepped back, arms folded, eying the other man.

“Yeah, nice to meet you Brad,” Kris stretched his arm to shake Brad’s hand.  “Adam’s told me all about you.”

“Oh, he has?”

“Of course.”

“Well, he’s told us almost nothing about you…”

“That’s because I’ve been a little busy, Brad,” Adam interjected.

Next Sutan and Cassidy and some other friends gathered around them, giving quick hugs and ushering them to a table.

“So, Kris,” Brad probed.  “Tell us about that singing competition you won.”

He practically spit out his drink, “What?  You mean from high school?”

“Kris, you never told me about that,” Adam confronted.

“Yeah, because it was totally stupid, and a long time ago.”

“Kris is an amazing singer, guys.”

“No I’m not.  I’m thinking about teaching music though.”

“Really, that’s great, Kris.”

Kris finally won them all over; mainly because Adam seemed completely relaxed and totally in love.  They’d never seen that with another guy.  And, he didn’t seem like a gold digger, which they were totally convinced that Jason was.

By the end of the night, they’d made plans to see each other again the next night, and then Adam and Kris headed back to the hotel where they were finally alone.

“Did you mean that?”

“What’s that, baby?”

“About wanting to come home with me?”

“Only if you want me to, but yeah, I meant it.  I want to see your life, Kris.”

“Thank you, Adam,” he gave him a sweet kiss.  “I already told my mom about you.  She’s excited to meet you, too.”

The last show was incredible.  Kris had VIP tickets and this time he was surrounded by Adam’s friends.

He even warmed up to Brad, who’d decided that Kris should be his personal project.  “We’ve got to get you out of that plaid.”

Adam’s performance was out of this world.  He was the sexiest that Kris had ever seen him.  Adam did a couple of moves that Kris was hoping they could duplicate in bed.  They were that hot.

Immediately following the show, everyone met in the dressing room for an after party.  Adam and the band had to leave briefly to meet fans outside and sign autographs.  He always did that, not ever forgetting why he was doing this.

The next morning, Dave had a farewell breakfast for the entire entourage in the hotel restaurant.  They were a lot of tearful speeches and toasts.  Adam loved touring, and he loved his band and crew.  But he was looking forward to some down time.

Dave handed Adam his ticket to Arkansas with a wink.  “You know, I bought this at the same time as the rest of them,” He told Adam at breakfast.
“How did you…?”

“Adam, it’s my job.”

“You’re the best Dave.”

Kris took his two friends, Kurt and Dillon aside as they exchanged cell phone numbers and promised to stay in touch.  “Thank you guys.  For everything,” Kris remembered them taking good care of him.

After everyone finally disbursed, Adam and Kris went back to their room to pack.  There was a car waiting for them to take them to Adam’s apartment where they’d spend the night and then head out to Arkansas the next morning to meet Kris’s mom.

“Nervous?”  Kris asked him that night in Adam’s bed.

“About meeting your mom?”  Adam asked.  “Of course, I am.  I want her to like me.”

“She’s gonna love you.  Just like I do.”

Adam spent two weeks in Arkansas with Kris and his family.  Then it was time for Kris to go back to school.  Adam was driving him in his rental car, and then would be flying back to Los Angeles that evening.  He didn’t want to go.

Well, he did, because he missed LA.  But he’d miss Kris even more.  They’d become so close in such a short period of time that it scared Adam.
The drive to Kris’s school was quiet; each man in their own thoughts.

“You alright, Kris?”

“I’ve been thinking.”

“About what?”

“I can go to school anywhere, can’t I?”

“Yes, but this is your last year, baby.  I don’t want you uprooting your life for me.”

“Oh.”

“Kris, don’t get me wrong.  I want you with me.  But, I have a lot of flexibility right now.  I plan on visiting you quite often this year.”

“You do?”

“Yes, your roommate is gonna get sick of me.”

Kris scooted a little closer in the seat next to his boyfriend.  “Promise?”

“Yeah, baby I promise.”

Epilogue

The stadium was packed with family and friends of the graduates.  Kris walked out onto the football field in his cap and gown along with the rest of his class, to sounds of cheering from the crowd.  Kris looked up to see his mom, dad, brother and Adam, who was standing and clapping.  Kris smiled at them.

The year had gone so quickly.  Adam came often, as he’d promised.  He always got a hotel room though so they could be alone.  Kris blushed at the thoughts of their nights together.

The group made their way to the chairs that had been set up on the field.  Everyone took their seats as the president of the college made his way over to the podium to give his speech and introduce the graduates.

After several different speakers, including the valedictorian, the graduates were called one by one to receive their diplomas.

When they got to Allen, Kristopher, which was only the third name called, Adam and Kris’s family all stood up and cheered.  Kris could hear, “I love you baby”, and smiled, shaking his head as he walked up to the podium to shake the president’s hand and accept his college diploma.  He’d done it.  He’d graduated college.

After the ceremony, Kris found his family and there were lots of hugs, and congratulations and some tears of joy.  Neil Allen took the family out for a celebration dinner.

“So boys, when are you leaving?”  Mom asked at the end of the dinner.

“Not for a few days, mom.  We want to spend some time with you guys first.”

“How’s the album coming along, Adam?”

“It’s going really well.  Almost finished with the recording, Mrs. Allen.”

“Adam, what did I tell you?”

“Sorry, Kim.”

“Well, we’re going miss you guys.”

“I’ll miss you too, mama.  But I’m looking forward to moving to LA.”

“It’s a big city, Kristopher,” she warned him.

“I’m in good hands, mama,” he said, looking at Adam.

“I’ll take good care of him.  I promise,” he told the family.

They spent the next few days saying goodbye to all of Kris’s friends and had dinner with Kris’s family every evening.

Soon, it was time to go.  They were driving Kris’s car so he’d have it in Los Angeles.  He’d need it for his new teaching job at the private middle school just outside of the city.  He was going to be teaching music.  Adam was so proud of him.

They drove directly to Adam’s apartment and Adam actually carried Kris over the threshold.  “Adam, we’re not married,” Kris complained.
“I know, but I wanted to welcome you home properly.”

“Home.  Are you sure, Adam?”

“That I want you with me?  Yes, I’m sure.  Are you?”

“Yes, Adam.”

That first night, they spent alone in bed, making love all night long.  It had been a long year, but totally worth it to have Kris finally here.

“Baby?”

“Yeah, Adam,” Kris said sleepily, still coming down from his last orgasm.

“Welcome home.”

Kris started his new job, and Adam finally finished his album.

Adam was presenting at an awards show in a few days and would finally be introducing Kris to the world.

“Nervous, baby?”

“Nah, I already made it through the scrutiny of your fans.  The rest of the world will be easy,” Kris chuckled, remembering the flurry of tweets.
“Aw, my Glamberts love you, baby.”

The cameras flashed as the media called Adam’s name.  “Adam, Adam, is this your boyfriend?”

They knew it was.  Adam and Kris had been out before, and the paps had already taken their pictures together.  But this was their official premier.
Kris was doing great.  He smiled for the camera, holding Adam’s hand.

They sat down in the theatre, waiting for the show to begin.  Adam leaned over and kissed Kris’s cheek.  “Thank you, baby.”

Kris smiled, “I love you,” he whispered.

“I love you too, Kris.”
