Summary: Kris has been in the same foster family since he was three. He's a very happy, well adjusted child, but beginning to feel different. Adam is a troubled teen, in and out of group and foster homes and on the street, forced to do things, no child should ever have to go through.
This is the story of them. A Kradam Love Story.

Brotherly Love - Chapter 112
Adam and Kris arrived at the theatre for dress rehearsal the next afternoon. They were running through the play twice in full costume. Adam couldn’t wait.
Neither could Kris. He loved hearing Adam sing. He secretly wondered if any talent scouts would be in the audience to snatch Adam up and offer him a career on Broadway. “He’d deserve it”, he told himself, bracing himself for the day when that actually happened.
Kris took his usual seat in the front row and settled in, waiting for the performance to start. Lyle Davis was running around, yelling at his assistant and the stage manager, and the lighting crew and the sound booth. Kris lowered himself in his seat. If Mr. Davis noticed him, he’d probably find something to yell at him about.
“Sit up straight, young man,” Lyle yelled a few minutes later. “We need a lively audience,” he clapped his hands together, commanding Kris to obey.
Kris did, immediately and then snickered. Told ya, he told himself.
Soon, everyone got into position and the music began to play and then the curtain came up, revealing the opening scene. Kris sat back and relaxed. Adam wouldn’t be coming out for a while.
Next thing Kris knew, Mr. Davis sat down next to Kris. “You’re Adam’s boyfriend. Kris, right?”
“Yes,” Kris answered, not even know that Mr. Davis knew who he was.
“He’s very talented, that one.”
“Yes, I know. He’s amazing.”
Mr. Davis chuckled. “He talks about you all the time.”
“He does?”
“Mm,” and then he lifted his clip board and Kris knew he was being dismissed; suited him just fine. Kris went back to watching the play.
Glinda was hysterical, with her little gestures and high pitched squeal. But Elphaba was incredible. Maybe it was the green hair, Kris chuckled to himself. But her voice was amazing, and she and Adam together were electric. Kris would have been jealous, but he knew that Adam was only thinking of him, every time he had to kiss her.
Kris sat up as Adam’s wheelbarrow was wheeled on the stage and then his boyfriend sat up, stretching, like he’d been asleep. Kris watched the scene play out. Adam was such a star.
“Yes, he is,” Lyle apparently was answering Kris.
“Huh?”
“Adam is a star,” he repeated, glancing down at his clipboard and making notes.
Kris realized that he’d said that out loud, and blushed.
They both went back to watching the play. Kris loved all of Adam’s, but his favorite was the duet with Elphaba at the end, As long as you’re mine.
Adam belted it; gave Kris goose bumps. And then it was time for the kiss.
It was perfect. If Kris was honest with himself, he would be totally jealous, but then he remembered that Adam was probably imagining it was him and it just made him horny. Then he laughed to himself.
It wasn’t quiet enough though, as Lyle glanced over at him, shaking his head. “I thought the kiss was quite good this time,” like he was trying to convince Kris or something.
“Oh, yeah, definitely, I was just thinking something, that’s all.”
“Humph”, then Mr. Davis went back to watching the players on stage. After the final scene, he stood up, clapping. “Great job, everyone. Fifteen minute break, and then let’s take it from the top.”
Adam jumped off the stage and ran over to his boyfriend. “Whatdja think, Kris?”
“You were incredible, Adam, that kiss...”
“I was thinking about you the whole time baby,” he said and then kissed him, causing Kris to blush.
After the second run through, Adam said goodbye to his friends, and he and Kris left to go home. It was late and they both had to work in the morning and then the first show was tomorrow night.
Adam had invited all of his friends and family, including Amanda and Tanner. Tanner told the Martin’s that they’d try, but it might not be a good idea, since the little mama was due in just a couple of weeks... However, Amanda called Pam the next day and told her, “Of course we’ll be there, I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
Adam only worked a half a day and then he needed to get over to the theatre to get ready for opening night. He was so excited. He had the second row, center reserved for all of his guests. It was either that or the ends of the first row. He wanted Kris right in the middle, so he could see him all night.
Amanda and Tanner met the family in the lobby. Amanda looked ready to bust.
“You are absolutely glowing,” Pam told her.
“Thanks, but I feel like an absolute cow,” Amanda said, hugging Pam.
“Nonsense; you’re gorgeous. So, how much longer?”
“The due date is two weeks from today, but I don’t know how much longer I can go. I feel huge.”
“We’re going to the doctor tomorrow so he can tell us for sure,” Tanner added.
“Keep us posted, alright?”
Danielle and Tommy met up with them in the lobby and soon after they found their seats in the auditorium with Lambert signs sitting on each of the chairs, reserving their spots.
“Wow, second row?”
They chatted quietly in their seats until the lights went down. Kris always got butterflies before Adam’s shows. This one was no exception. Danielle sat on one side of him, holding his hand, and Pam on the other. She kept glancing over at her youngest. “You alright, Kris?”
“Just excited,” he assured her as the lights went down. He had absolute butterflies.
Just then, Mr. Davis came onto the stage to present the show. “And now, without further ado, I give you the Central Arkansas Players in Wicked”
Applause thundered, as the curtains opened and the show began.
Kris enjoyed the beginning of the musical. Glinda was funny and the music was really good. But when that wheelbarrow entered the stage and his boyfriend made his first appearance, Kris’s heart almost exploded. He was so proud of Adam and the audience just ate him up. Dancing Through Life was spectacular as Adam’s vocals soared and his dance moves made Kris weak at the knees.
Halfway through the performance, there was a brief intermission and the Martins and friends just gushed over the performance so far. Amanda and Tanner were kind of quiet, huddled together, causing Pam to look over. “Is everything alright?”
“Oh yeah, just a few Braxton Hicks,” Amanda informed her friend, patting her tummy.
“You sure?” Pam knew exactly what those were, but you never knew for sure if they were the real thing or not.
“Yeah, I’m sure. I’m fine,” Amanda tried to sound convincing. Pam accepted it for now, patting Amanda’s hand, as the other woman smiled at her, in reassurance.
“Adam’s doing an amazing job,” Amanda quickly changed the subject.
“Yes, he is, and he’d totally understand if you had to leave and go have a baby instead of watching the second act.”
“Nonsense”
Tanner kept looking back and forth between the two women, not sure which to listen to at this point.
The lights went down again as everyone settled back into their seats to watch the second half of the show.
~~~~
Kris sat back watching the play. Adam only had a couple of scenes with Glinda until his big number with Elphaba. Kris braced himself; Tommy next to him chuckling at his expression. “Just wait,” Kris told him.
Dani shushed them, taking Tommy’s hand.
The music begins and Elphaba begins signing. She has the first stanza before Fyero breaks in. Kris is so focused on Adam that he can hardly breathe.
When it’s over, there’s thunderous applause as their scene ends.
The rest of the play commenced, ending with the escape of Fyero and Elphaba followed by the final scene followed by the curtain call.
The audience applauded through each of the groups bowing on stage. When Fyero came out, the audience actually gave him a standing ovation which continued for the two leading ladies.
Just a few seconds later… “Oh shit”
“Amanda, what’s wrong,” Tanner said loudly enough for Pam to hear. She looked over to see her friend’s panicked face as she looked down at the wet floor. “Oh God, let’s get you out of here.”
At that moment, the final bow was finished as the cast members were exiting the stage and the lights came up. There was no way they’d get down the aisle quickly now. “Dani, tell Kris to meet us in the lobby. We’ve got to get Amanda out of here, right now.”
“Sure thing, Mrs. Martin,” she then turned to Tommy and Kris, repeating what Pam just said.
“Mom, we’ll help,” Kris yelled over to them.
Everyone around them quickly realized what was going on and let the family out of the row, nudging others out of their way. They had to walk slowly because Amanda was definitely in labor now and practically bowled over.
Tanner called 911 as they made their way down the aisle, holding onto one side of Amanda, while Ron was on her other side. The ambulance would meet them out front of the theatre. His next call was to Amanda’s doctor. Pam offered to drive their car and meet them at the hospital.
Kris made sure they all made it outside and then he went back into the theatre; Dani and Tommy following him backstage to find Adam.
He spotted them right away and came over, giving Kris a huge kiss. “Hey baby.”
“Adam, Amanda went into labor.”
“What? When?”
“During your curtain call.”
“Wow, is she alright?”
“Yeah, they’re on their way to the hospital now.”
“Let’s go.”
“Where?”
“To the hospital. Come on,” he said, pulling his boyfriend out the door. Tommy and Dani said good bye out from the lobby and then Kris and Adam headed over to the hospital.
“So what happened?” Adam finally asked.
Kris told her the story of her water breaking just as the cast did their finally bow.
“That’s loyalty. She should have left earlier.”
“She didn’t know it was the real thing yet.”
“They met Pam in the waiting room.”
“How is she?”
“She’s fine, Adam. She’s just having the baby a couple of weeks early.”
“Where’s dad?”
“He took Chelsey and Brent home. He’ll be by later. She might be in labor for quite a while. This is her first baby.”
“Oh, ok.”
“You boys don’t need stay.”
“Mom, I want to. It’s Amanda.”
Adam really did love her. Pam knew that. “Of course, Adam. Why don’t you boys look around the gift shop for a present?”
“Great idea mom,” Adam beamed. He wanted to get her the perfect gift for her baby. He couldn’t help thinking that was one lucky kid.
Adam and Kris left the waiting area and walked over to the hospital gift shop. Everything seemed to be pink and blue. “What is she having?”
“A girl, I think.”
“How about this,” Kris held up a little pink onesie.
“Aw, that’s so cute, baby.”
They spent about twenty minutes looking around at all of the stuff to buy. They had pink and blue bubblegum cigars and balloons and flowers and baby blankets. Adam ended up going crazy and bought a bunch of things that the girl at the counter wrapped in a gift basket for him. “Hey babe, go ask mom for sure if it’s a girl before I buy all this pink stuff,” he instructed Kris.
“Ok.”
Kris came back a few minutes later nodding. “Girl.”
“Great,” he said, handing his credit card to the cashier.
Tanner came to see them a couple of times, giving them updates and thanking them for being here. “I wouldn’t be anywhere else,” Adam informed him.
“You’re a good friend, Adam. All off you,” he added, looking at Pam and Kris.
“She’s the best friend I ever had. She gave me a family.”
Tanner nodded, knowingly. “Speaking of... I’d better call my brother in New York,” Tanner pulled out his phone and dialed his younger sibling.
“How’s Bill?” Adam asked him after Tanner hung up the phone.
“He’s terrific; asked about you…”
“He did?”
“Both of you; wanted to know how you were doing.”
“I like him.”
“He’s a good guy. I better get back to the little mama now,” he smiled and left the group once again.
“Are you sure you don’t want to get some rest and come back later?” Pam asked the boys.
“No way.”
“Okay, Adam. I won’t push.”
“Thanks, mom.”
A couple of hours later, a nurse came out to update the group. “It’s a boy.”
“WHAT?” Adam yelped. He and Kris just stared at each other and then the basket of pink gifts. “Do you think they’ll let me switch?” He asked Pam in a panic.
“Of course they will. Hurry, so we can get up to see her when they let us.”
Adam and Kris sprinted back to the gift shop and exchanged everything for its blue counterpart. Breathless, they hurried back to Pam carrying the blue gift basket and something just for Tanner.
About thirty minutes later, Tanner came down and told the Martins that Amanda was getting ready to be moved to her room. He eyed the gift basket and smiled. “She’ll love it, Adam.”
“Oh here, this is for you,” he handed Tanner the packaged of blue bubblegum cigars. “So you can hand them out.”
“Aw, thank you man,” he beamed, opening the package and taking two out. “Here guys,” he handed one to each of them. “Thank you.”
Giggling, they accepted the ‘cigars’ and they all followed Tanner up to Amanda’s floor to meet the newest edition to the Hutchinson family.
