Brotherly Love - Chapter 108
There was so much to do inside Epcot; the family had trouble deciding where to begin. Ron suggested that they do things today that didn’t require standing in a long line, so they could see as much as possible in their half day. They decided to fore-go the Spaceship Earth attraction, since that line looked hours long. They would try and do that first their next Epcot day.
They were able to see Ellen’s Energy Adventure and Nemo and Friends, Innovations and the Circle of Life attractions while in the future world before heading over to the World Showcase. They walked along the gardens and paths, stopping for a few of the shows and films from the various countries.
Beginning with Canada and the United Kingdom, they got through half of the world before deciding to stop in Germany for Lunch at the Beirgarten restaurant for a Bavarian Buffet, complete with bratwurst and strudel accompanied by an Oompa band.
The Martin kids wanted to spend the rest of the afternoon at Typhoon Lagoon, so they took the bus back to their Villa, got changed and then headed over to the water park. It was a totally different vibe than in the morning with just the surfers. They were children splashing and playing around, and a lot more noise.
They found a place to drop their stuff, and even snagged a couple of lounge chairs before heading over to the water slides, tube and raft rides. Kris and Adam’s favorite part though, was Castaway Creek, where they shared a tube that floated along the lush landscape and waterfalls. The boys sat together, with their feet over the side and let the current carry them. They received a couple of stares, to which they just smiled in return and held each other closer.
After the relaxing ride, they tried the Crush n Gusher, a water coaster with rafts, which they were propelled by water jets through climbs and drops and eventually dumped in to the water. Then they headed over to the biggest water slide of all, Humunga Kowabunga.
“I’m starving”, Kris admitted afterwards, Adam ready to slump over from all the day’s excitement. It wasn’t time for dinner, but they went over to the Low Tide Lou’s for root beer floats and frozen lemonade and to rest for a bit.
The boys wanted to go on one more ride, so the four young Martin’s grabbed a tube and rode down the falls of Gangplank Falls. They got drenched one last time as the ride took them through the waterfalls bridges.
Water logged after that, the gang headed back to their hotel to change for dinner. They’d passed so many good restaurants at Epcot earlier in the day that they decided to go back there for dinner.
Heading into the park, they looked at all of the restaurant choices on the map and decided on French. “I want to try the onion soup”, Pam admitted.
“Isn’t French food fattening?” Adam asked, nonchalantly.
“Adam, you’re gorgeous”, Kris ensure his boyfriend.
“I’m not saying I don’t want to eat it”, he snickered.
“Alright, everyone”, Ron said as they arrived in front of the Chefs de France Restaurant. “Let’s eat.”
The Martins indulged in the tastes of France, beginning with the soup. Half of the group opted for the French Onion and the other half chose the Lobster Bisque. Adam sided with Kris this time, sipping on the creamy blend of flavors.
For the entrée, Kris and Ron both got the broiled Salmon, Brent chose the Beef Ribs, Pam and Chelsey went with the Quiche Lorraine while Adam decided on the Crepe Florentine. They ended the meal with three orders of Crème Brule and three of the Chocolate Mouse. Kris and Adam shared so they could taste a little of each.
They visited a few more of the countries, and really enjoyed walking along the gardens and then hit a couple more attractions back in Future World while waiting for the nighttime fireworks display. Then they got back on the bus for the ride home to their Villa at Saratoga Springs.
Everyone was tired, but still needed to wind down a bit, so the family headed down to the Villa pool for a late night swim. The water was cool, but relaxing and fairly quiet for this time of night.
“So everyone, we have reservations with Donald Duck tomorrow at the Animal Kingdom”, Ron announced.
“Ah, I love him”, Adam giggled, grinning at Kris who just shook his head. “What, he’s funny”, he shrugged.
“Then we’ll spend the day at Animal Kingdom, but we’re free after that, in case we want to go somewhere else.”
They agreed on the plan and then walked home to get a good night’s rest. The boys shut the door to their room, visited the bathroom, and then undressed at got into bed. “Today was perfect”, Adam told Kris as they lay down, legs wrapped together. They kissed lazily, and then fell asleep almost immediately.
~~~~
“Alright gang”, Ron called. “Let’s get over to the Animal Kingdom. I hear there are dinosaurs”, he chuckled.
“Yeah, and food hopefully”, Adam yawned.
The Martins feasted on a huge breakfast buffet and as promised, were soon visited by Donald Duck and the crew. They all got pictures this time; Adam grinning like a fool with his cartoon idol, silently giving Chelsey a break for gushing all over Tigger the other day.
They did the rides and most of the attractions and then headed over to the Kilimanjaro Safari for an afternoon animal adventure. The guests piled into the huge trucks and then they enjoyed a guided tour of the animals of Africa. They took a ton of pictures as they drove along, gazing at all of the exotic animals and landscaping.
They wanted to stay for the evening and have dinner here and then see a couple of the shows; Finding Nemo, the musical and the Festival of the Lion King. They were each only 30-40 minutes each, so they had time to do both.
For dinner, they had reservations at the Rainforest Café, where the animals came alive as they were eating. The sounds and visuals kept them entertained for the entire meal.
It was still early, so they took the bus to Disney’s boardwalk and had dessert in a dueling piano bar and then did some shopping before heading home after a long day.
Over the next couple of days, the Martins visited Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Magic Kingdom again; visiting the areas they hadn’t gotten to the first time, and revisiting their favorites.
They went swimming at Blizzard Beach and experienced all of their water rides and slides, and spent their evenings at Downtown Disney or Magic Kingdom, ending their evenings with fireworks and swimming.
The next morning, they were going back to Typhoon Lagoon for another morning of surfing. They had to endure the 30 minute lesson first at the instructor’s insistence, but every one of them came away with something new.
The instructor recognized them at once and paid special attention to Chelsey, much to her delight. She tried to seem needy so he’d come over and help her again, but she was doing so much better than last time, it was difficult to fake. However, the surfing cutie still found time to praise her progress and pay her a little attention.
Brent decided that he was buying a surf board as soon as they got back home to Arkansas.
“And where are you going to surf, on Lake Conway?” Chelsey questioned.
He just shrugged, realizing it was probably a stupid idea, but he was hooked and couldn’t wait to get back to the ocean.
They had a huge evening planned, so they decided to spend the rest of the day at their resort. Saratoga Springs had a lot to offer, so they began by renting bicycles, and going on their own tour of the grounds. It was incredible how much undeveloped land there was at Disney. So many places to explore that were relatively uninhabited. They enjoyed riding along the lakes, keeping on the trails. Afterwards, they’d worked up an appetite and had lunch at the Artist’s Palette. It was amusing how many restaurants had gift shops. They didn’t want to waste any opportunity of having the guests spend their money.
After lunch, Pam and Ron played a short round of golf, while the Martin kids went swimming at one of the hotel’s larger pools. It had its own slides and waterfalls. Later, they relaxed in the whirlpool.
Meeting back at the Villa late in the afternoon, everyone got dressed and then got on the bus taking them to the Polynesian hotel for dinner. They had reservations for the Spirit of Aloha dinner show, also known as the Luau.
They were led to their table, which was long and could fit several families. The Martin’s table was off to the side of the stage a couple of rows back. They were brought drinks and then the food arrived, family style, so everyone could take what they wanted. The meal was incredible; an authentic Polynesian feast, featuring ribs, pulled pork and chicken with Polynesian rice, various salads and vegetables prepared to perfection. All of the delicious smells mixed together made it a fabulous experience.
Soon after, the entertainment began, as they enjoyed a real tropical dinner show with traditional hula and fire dancing from Hawaii, Tahiti and other tropical islands. The music blended with the dancing and food, creating a delightful atmosphere. They invited some of the guests to join the dancers on stage to learn the Hula, so of course, Chelsey jumped at the opportunity, ignoring her brother’s cackles.
It was a spectacular evening; no one wanted to leave. So after walking around the resort for a bit to work off dinner, they took up a spot near one of the pools at the Polynesian hotel to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks before heading back to the Villa.
They spent the next two mornings respectively at Universal Studios Theme Park and SeaWorld, just for a change of scenery. They’d been to both in California last summer, but didn’t want to come all this way without experiencing them in Florida. After spending each morning and early afternoon at one of the parks, they’d have lunch and then head back to the Villa to change and go swimming.
That next evening, the family had reservations at Cinderella’s Castle. Everyone was really looking forward to this, especially Chelsey. Everyone dressed in nice, casual clothing and walked over to the bus stop that would take them directly to the Magic Kingdom.
“I hope we see Cinderella again”, Chelsey admitted.
“Don’t you mean Prince Charming?” Brent snickered.
“Nah, not my type”, she rebutted, thinking back to that cute surfing instructor at Typhoon Lagoon.
Adam giggled, thinking that Prince Charming was very cute, but thought to keep his opinion to himself. Instead he looked over at Kris. “You’re my Prince Charming, baby”, he whispered in his ear.
Blushing, Kris shook his head, “You could actually be Prince Charming, Adam.”
They soon found themselves on Main Street USA once again, headed for the castle. “It’s so pretty this time of day”, Pam noticed. It was just dusk and the sky was turning pretty shades of pink and orange.
The group went inside and gave the hostess their names. Just then Cinderella and the other characters came out to greet the dinner guests. They met the Fairy Godmother and the mice and then Prince Charming walked passed them. He looked twice at Chelsey and then smiled. “Hey there pretty lady”, he said, romantically.
Chelsey giggled at the obvious flirtation, but then she got a good look at him. “Oh my God, it’s you”, she squealed.
“Tonight you can call me Prince Charming”, he flirted.
“You do this on the side?” She questioned the cutie.
“Just filling in for a friend”, he shrugged. “Must be you’re lucky night”, he added, winking.
“Yeah, must be”
“Let me take your picture?” Adam had noticed the exchange and also recognized their surfing instructor.
The guy put his arm around Chelsey, and they smiled for the camera, Chelsey grinning like a goof.
“Nice seeing you again, Chelsey”, then Prince Charming smiled and walked away, leaving Chelsey weak at the knees. Wow, he remembered my name
Fortunately, right at that moment, they were called for dinner and led up the spiral staircase to the banquet hall. Chelsey couldn’t stop thinking about that guy.
“You alright, Chels?” Adam asked. He knew that look. She was head over heels for that guy.
“Yeah, that was just weird, seeing him again.”
“Like fate?”
“Something like that”, she said, thoughtfully as they entered the banquet hall for dinner.
“This is incredible”, Pam gazed up at the ornate ceiling and fancy tables aligning the room. They were seated a one of the long tables, sharing with several other families. Since they were the first seated, they took the end, three seats across from each other. The hostess handed them menus, and explained that they could choose one appetizer, one entrée and then dessert.
The Martin’s poured over the menu, exploring their choices. They settled on three orders of Royal Tasting of Cheese, recommended by their waitress, and three orders of the Crawfish and Rock Shrimp appetizers so they could share.
The entrée’s proved a little more difficult, as they all looked delicious. There was oven roasted chicken breast, beef tenderloin and pan-seared cod and braised pork to name a few. Dessert was easy, as they all chose the chef’s trio.
After their orders were taken, the room filled with the Disney Princesses making their appearances for photos and autographs. The Martins just enjoyed the show as all the little girls in the room clamored for their favorite princess’s attention. Some of the children were also in costume. It really was adorable. “Adam, look”, Chelsey pointed out to their two little friends from the bus. “Ah, aren’t they cute?” Sophie and Gwen were dressed up as Belle and Aurora.
It wasn’t long before Sophie noticed them and ran over, screaming, “Adam, Kris, it’s us”, she exclaimed, getting Gwendolyn’s attention and she was soon running over as well.
“Girls”, they heard their mother calling, as she chased after them.
“Oh, hello”, she said, as they arrived in front of the Martin’s table, the girls giving Adam and Kris each a big hug. “I knew we’d see you again”, the younger sister squealed.
They were sitting a few tables away, so after they hugged everyone again, the girls’ mother ushered them away and thanked the family for being so nice to them.
Their meal arrived shortly after and it was the best they’d had so far at Disney. Half the group went with the beef tenderloin and the other half the roasted chicken. There was a lot of sharing, especially between Adam and Kris, and the consensus was that they were both excellent. The meal ended with dessert and coffee and then it was time to go. The girls ran back over to say good night to their friends.
After dinner, they took the boat over to the Polynesian, which had become their favorite spot to watch the fireworks. Then, they headed back to the villa for that much desired late night swim.
Soaking in the large hot tub, Adam put his arms around his boyfriend. “I’m having such a good time, baby.”
“Can’t believe it’s almost over”, Chelsey sighed, getting in to join her brothers, followed by Brent.
“We have three more days”, Pam reminded them, climbing in next.
“Well, let’s make the most of them”, Ron said as he sat beside his wife.
Adam looked at Kris with a sparkle in his eyes.
