Brother Love - Chapter 65
Everyone was just beginning to eat their breakfast when Adam and Kris came into the suite. Pam put two plates in front of them and they sat down to join their family at the table.
Pam had made sausage and eggs with English muffins. They wanted everyone to have a good breakfast so they wouldn’t be hungry for a while. They were driving to Disneyland today. It was about 45 minutes to an hour away and they wanted to get an early start. They had already purchased their tickets online before their trip so they wouldn’t have to wait in line to get into the park.
Ron pulled the van around and the family hopped in and drove down Sunset Boulevard to US 101 and then I-5 into Anaheim.
After about twenty five minutes into the trip, Chelsey started with a round of M-I-C see ya real soon… K-E-Y… Why?
Brent and Kris were laughing so hard, but then Adam chimed in. “Because we Love you!”
And then together with Pam and Ron, “M-O-U-S-E”…
Brent and Kris admitted defeat and the entire family finished the original Mickey Mouse Club song together adding the ‘Donald Duck’ at the appropriate time.
“God, we’re just like that dork family in National Lampoon’s Vacation”, Brent chuckled.
“Nah, we’re much cooler.”
Brent looked around the car at his family, “Not so much, we even have the family thruckster”. They all laughed and went into another Disney song which took them right into the parking lot of the resort.
Ron parked the car and they took the shuttle bus to the entrance of the park. It was larger than life. They walked down Main Street, USA and saw a couple of Disney characters stopping to talk to children and have their picture taken. Kris saw Pluto and ran over to him with Brent and Adam bent over, laughing so hard at him. “What? I want my picture taken with Pluto.” Pluto waved and opened his arms for Kris to get next to him. “Adam, come on!”
“Kris.”
“I want you in the picture too”.
Brent pushed him towards Kris and Pluto who had his other arm open and moving his head to invited Adam in the picture.
Pam and Chelsey started snapping pictures all the while laughing at their boys.
Continuing, they saw a horse drawn street car and they continued down Main Street gazing at all of the buildings and shops and at the end, they came to Sleeping Beauty’s castle. “Isn’t it beautiful?” Pam wondered out loud. “Simply breathtaking.”
Then the family turned into Tomorrowland. They passed on the Astro Orbiter which looked too much like a kiddie ride, but they had a blast in ‘Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters’, shooting at the evil robots and Star wars ‘The Adventure Continues’ ride. They briefly visited the Starcade and then went into ‘Captain EO’s’, which was an interactive tribute to Michael Jackson and his music.
As they were leaving EO’s, Adam asked, “So Kris, you ready for Space Mountain?”
“I’ve been on roller coaster before, Adam.” Kris rolled his eyes.
“Not like this one! It’s all inside.”
Kris tried to picture it for a moment, “Yeah, let’s do it!”
The Martin’s got a car all to themselves with Adam and Kris in the front, Chelsey and Brent in the middle and Pam and Ron in the rear. The attendant made sure everyone was secure in their seats and then the ride began. The ride was fast and the music was freaky. They screamed and put their hands up as they went whirling through space.
“Man, that was so cool”, Kris said as they were let out of their seats. “We’ve got to go back and do that one again.”
“Later”, Pam said. “We have lots to see. And, we can always come back one more day if we need to.”
“Ok, that was the best so far”, everyone agreed. From there they walked through innovations and rode the ‘Autopia’ cars.
They decided to ride the monorail later, when they needed a rest and went straight to ‘Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage’.
“I always loved this movie”, Pam commented.
“Yeah me too mom, when I was five”, Kris snorted.
Adam gave Kris a look. He’d never seen the movie. When he was five he was hanging out in a bar with strippers, or Joan. But she didn’t have any kid movies.
They had all decide to have lunch at Café Orleans which was located on the other side of the park, so after they finished with Fantasyland, they’d get on the Disney Railroad that would take them over to New Orleans Square.
Fantasyland is where all of the princesses hung out. They met Cinderella and Belle and The Little Mermaid. This time Chelsey wanted her picture taken too, with her brothers. They rode ‘Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride’, the ‘Mad Teacups’ and the ‘Matterhorn Bobsleds’ and only stopped to look at ‘King Arthur’s Carrousel’. Pam and Chelsey really wanted to ride ‘It’s a Small World’, so they climbed into the boat seats, Adam and Kris in the back so they could cuddle through the ride.
Next they walked over to ‘Mickey’s Toon Town’. It was the closest place to catch the Disney Train without having to walk back over to Tomorrowland. This park of Disneyland was definitely geared towards the youngest visitors, so the Martin’s just glanced around as they walked to where they’d catch the train.
They rode around the edge of Disneyworld to New Orleans Square. Everyone was hungry by then, so they went directly to the Café Orleans restaurant. They opted for the outdoor seating so they could view the boats on the ‘Rivers of America’ while they ate their French Onion Soup and La Salade de Maison. They decided to save their appetites for a really nice meal later in the evening.
They talked about what they had seen so far, and what they wanted to do next. Everyone was looking forward to the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean attractions the most, which were right in Orleans Square.
Kris jumped about ten feet when he saw the ghost in the seat behind him though the mirror. Adam giggled. “Baby, there’s no one behind us.”
After the Haunted Mansion, they got on the boat for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and relaxed as they began their animated tour along the water.
The family decided as their floating “bateau” passed the Blue Bayou restaurant that they wanted to come back there for dinner later in the evening.
They spent the next few hours in the rest of the lands. They did Indiana Jones Adventure and the Jungle Cruise in Adventureland. Then they ventured over to Frontier Land for the Big Thunder Mountain railroad and the Jungle Cruise and shot targets at the ‘Shootin Exposition’. Pam and Chelsey wanted to ride the Mark Twain Riverboat which was an authentic paddlewheel steamboat.
Afterwards, they headed over to Critter Country for the water ride, Splash Mountain. They still hadn’t ridden the Monorail which was on the other side of the park, so they walked back over to the closest station on the Disneyland Railroad, stopping at a few of the attractions along they way they had missed earlier in the day.
They rode the train over to Tomorrowland and got on the Monorail which took them gave them a spectacular aerial view of the entire Disneyland Park, Downtown Disney and The California Adventure Park. They didn’t have time to go to either of the other places today, but had plans to spend an evening in Downtown Disney later in the week.
Everyone was getting hungry again, so they took the train back over to New Orleans Square and ate dinner at the Blue Bayou. It was located inside the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, seating you ‘outside’ where you have a view of the boats as they begin their adventure.
The food was spectacular and the ambiance was incredible. This was by far their favorite restaurant so far. It was rather expensive though, so Ron told them to enjoy it.
Adam ordered the Isla-Cruces Crab Cakes, while Pam and Chelsey chose the Tesoro Island Chicken. Brent decided on the Buccaneer's Boneless Beef Short Ribs and Ron couldn’t resist the Roasted Beef Strip Loin. Kris struggled with really wanting the surf and turf. He’d have been happy just with the surf. When the waiter came over, Adam urged him to ask if he could just have the lobster. The waited smiled and nodded, “Of course”, he winked at him. “We aim to please”.
Adam and Chelsey giggled. “Wow Kris, the boys really can’t resist you, can they?”
Kris blushed, “No, I’m pretty sure he was looking at Adam”, he said staring at his fork.
Adam shook his head and then mouthed to Chelsey, "My boyfriend is so hot".
She just rolled her eyes at her two brothers, smiling.
They all sipped on their Glowing Character punch, while waiting on their salads and Gumbo.
“So, how tired is everyone?” Pam asked, yawning.
“We’re staying for the parade and fireworks, right?” Kris asked.
“Of course we are. We don’t have any plans for tomorrow, except…” She stopped herself. She didn’t want Adam worrying about tomorrow.
“It’s ok, mom. “
“Adam, we can go with you if you want.” She gave him a small smile.
“No, I have to do this alone. I’m not even sure what I’m going there for, but I guess I'll figure it out.”
“I know you will, son”, Ron gave Adam a nod.
Soon their meal arrived and they all changed the conversation to more pleasant things like what they still wanted to see while they were in Disneyland. Kris wanted to do Space Mountain one last time.
For dessert, they had a choice of Crème Brulee, Chocolate Cake or Pecan Pie.
“This has been the best day, hasn’t it?”
Everyone agreed, as Ron paid the check and they left the restaurant. They were able to do a few more things, including Space Mountain again before it was time to head over to Main Street, USA for the parade, and then the fireworks. Both were spectacular, and pretty soon, it was time to get back to the van and then home. Both Adam and Kris fell asleep on the way to the hotel. Pam and Chelsey had to nudge them awake as they pulled into the parking lot at the Saharan.
They walked to their room and literally fell into bed. “I had such a great time today”, Kris said sleepily.
“Me too, baby”.
“Was that your first time there, Adam?”
“Yeah”, not like his mom would have ever taken him to Disneyland.
“Oh, well you seemed to know a lot about it.”
“I knew about it, I’d just never been there.”
They both undressed and brushed their teeth and settled into bed together, lazily kissing until they fell asleep wrapped in each other’s arms.

Adam awoke sometime during the night, shaken by a bad dream. He sat up panicking, wondering where he was for a moment until he saw Kris lying next to him. He pulled his knees up to his chest and put his head in his lap, trying to shake the images of his dream out of his head.
He dreamed he was at the bar. In the back room with a man who was raping him; telling him that he was meant to be a whore and he’d never be anything else. The image changed to the bartender who welcomed him back and gave him the keys to his old apartment. Then the girls one by one welcomed him home and said they always knew he’d be back one day.
Then he saw the men, half naked panting for him rubbing their cocks, waiting in the background for their turn with him. “You were always the best whore”, he heard Curtis's dad sneering, palming himself. "I knew you'd be back, Adam."
Then the image changed to Kris fading in the distance, waving goodbye to him.
He sat there sobbing, until Kris stirred. “Adam, what’s the matter?” He asked sleepily, not realizing how upset he was at first.
"I'm not a whore", he was repeating to himself. "I'm not a whore."
"Adam, of course you're not, baby."
"They don't think I'll ever be anything else. Maybe I won't be."
"Adam, look at me", Kris lifted Adam's head and stared into his eyes. "I love you. You are not and never will be a whore."
Adam just shook his head. “I can’t do this.” He said through his sobs.
Kris took Adam into his arms and held him. “You don’t have to, baby.” He carded his hands though Adam’s hair, caressing his face. “But, I think you need to.”
Adam nodded. Kris was right. It was just a dream, not real. He needed to face his past to truly get over it. He had nothing to be afraid of. His family was here, and they were not going to leave him.
Adam finally calmed down and then he let Kris lay him back down on the bed. Kris lay over Adam, kissing him gently. When he moved his hands down Adam's chest past his stomach, just grazing his groin, Adam tensed. "Please no."
"Ok". Kris pulled away.
"I'm sorry, baby. Just hold me tonight?"
Kris snuggled in closer, enveloping Adam's larger body with his own letting Adam rest his head on his chest.
"I love you, Adam. It's going to fine."
Kris stayed awake until Adam's breathing evened out and he knew he was asleep. He kissed Adam's cheek and closed his eyes and was soon sleeping as well.
