Warnings:  underage sex, m/m sex, mention of underage prostitution and child abuse/neglect, homophobia.
Summary:
Kris has been in the same foster family since he was three.  He's a very happy, well adjusted child, but beginning to feel different.  Adam is a troubled teen, in and out of group and foster homes and on the street, forced to do things, no child should ever have to go through.

This is the story of them.  A Kradam Love Story.

A/N:
This is a lot different that anything else I've written, there will be some angst.  It will break your heart at times, it did mine, but bear with me, it definitely get's better and happier and eventually sexier.  I have no idea how long it will be, at least 70+ chapters.   I'll try and update twice a week.  I hope you enjoy it, please comment, it makes me happy.

This chapter is dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] adamgrrrl for her suggestion of adding the Aquarium of the Pacific to the story, and all of her great information.

Brother Love - Chapter 69

They drove into Venice beach and parked the car, calling Chelsey and letting her know they were back.  They would meet her and Brent on the boardwalk at The Sidewalk Café.

Brent was still with the surfers, getting board tips when Chelsey texted him.  He said good bye to his new friends and vowed to come back after a lesson.

Chelsey had already gotten an outside table for six when Brent joined her.  “So, you’re ready to live out here?”  She chuckled.

“Oh my God, yes.  I’m having such a blast.”

A few minutes later, the rest of the Martin’s joined them.  Adam had stopped off at a restroom to splash cold water on his face and recompose.

He was beginning to feel only slightly better.

They found Chelsey and Brent easily.  “So, how’d it go?”  Chelsey asked concerned.

Adam just shrugged his shoulders, head down.

“It went fine dear.  I think right now, Adam would just like to relax.   We’ll talk about it later.”

“Ok”, she agreed to drop it, looking down at the menu.  “So, I wonder what’s good.”

~~~~
During the meal, Adam decided to talk about everything.  He told Chelsey and Brent about the attorney and the letter and the money.
“How much money is it, Adam?”  Brent asked.
Kris realized he didn’t know how much it was either and perked up.
“2.3 million dollars”, he said with a straight face.
Chelsey about choked on her soup.  “Are you serious?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s awesome.”
“Whatever.”  He shrugged again.
They looked disconcertedly at him.
Pam went on to explain why she thought Adam didn’t want the money.  He didn’t interrupt, so she figured she was pretty close.
“Can I call Amanda now?”  Adam stood up, reaching for his phone.
“Sure Adam, right now?”
Kris stood up too, “Do you want me to come with you?”
He just nodded and took Kris’s hand and walked away from the table, dialing Amanda’s number.
“Is he ok, mom?”  Chelsey asked.
“Well, he just learned that his mom, who made him work the streets for money, apparently was rich.  She also never said she loved him in that letter.  I think that’s what hurt him the most.  I’m sure she did in her own way…  My heart’s breaking for him right now.  Money isn’t exactly a consolation for a mother’s love.” She said as she watched Adam talking on the phone with Kris by his side.
~~~~

“Amanda?”

“Adam”, she sounded excited to hear from him.  "Hi honey, how's California?"

"It's great", he said unconvincingly.

"You don't sound like it's so great.  What's going on?"

Adam told her about going to the bar and getting the letter from the attorney.

Then he told her about going to see Fletcher Watkins and the will and everything.

"I don't want anything from her, Amanda."  He said with tears in his eyes.

"Adam, you could be set for life.  You need to think about that, and about Kris."

He looked over at Kris and smiled.  He needed to take care of Kris.

"But I don't know what she did to get all that money."

"You don't need to, sweetie.  Think of it this way.  You're mom wanted a better life for you, even though she couldn't give it to you. This money is yours."

"I'm so confused right now."

"I know you are, Adam.  Tell you what.  When you get back, we'll have a long talk about all that you learned about your mom, alright?"

"Ok."

"In the meantime, have Ron call Tanner so they can discuss the legalities of the money.”

He just nodded.

"Adam, you have so many people in your life who love you."

"I know", he said with tears streaming down his face, looking at Kris.

“Thanks, Amanda.  I love you."

"I love you too, Adam.  Have a great rest of your trip, and we'll figure this all out when you get home, alright?"

"Yeah, thanks."  He hung up the phone and put it in his pocket.  Kris pulled Adam into his arms and held him tight.

They walked back to the table.  Pam stood up and gave Adam a hug.  “I love you so much, Adam.”  She kissed him on the cheek.

“I know that, mom.  Thank you”, he hugged her back and then the three of them sat down.

Adam took a long sip of his soda.  “Dad, Tanner wants you to call him as soon as you can.”

“Alright, Adam.”

“Right now, I really like to forget about all of this and just enjoy the rest of our vacation.”

“Here, here”, they all raised their glasses in a toast.

“So, I think Kris and Brent wanted to learn to surf?”  He said, smiling.

“What about you?”  Kris asked.

“Nah, I just want to watch you, baby.”

“Well, we’ll look into that, maybe for tomorrow.”  Pam promised.

They decided for today to drive down to Long Beach to visit the Pacific Aquarium.  They had heard from several sources that it was definitely a place to see while they were in California.

After lunch, they walked along the boardwalk, going into a few shops, before heading back to the van.  Pam drove, so Ron could call Tanner in the car.  Amanda had already explained everything to him, so he was prepared to offer advice when he spoke to Ron.

Then Ron called the bank set up a new account.  They had their signatures on file, so they could do it all over the phone.  The account was in Adam and Ron’s name.  They would visit the bank when the got home to diversify the money into different types of accounts and get additional advice.  His last call was to the attorney, Fletcher Watkins, giving him the wiring instructions.

Once all the business was taken care of, at least as much as he could do away from home, Ron put the phone down and told Adam that everything would be alright.

Adam nodded.  He still had many questions.  He would visit Joan in the morning.

~~~~
Pam easily found the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach.  She pulled into the parking lot and took a spot in the shade.  First, they walked to the ‘boat’, to purchase their tickets and were ushered through the main entrance where a photographer was waiting to snap their picture.  They took a group photo, and then Adam and Kris wanted one together.
The group made their way into the Great Hall of the Pacific and the huge life-sized replica of the Blue Whale with her baby calf.  “Whoa”, Kris said as they walked under her.
They watched a couple of the exhibit previews before heading over to the ‘Blue Cavern’ to watch the divers interact with the animals in the tank like the giant Sea Bass, telling their stories to the audience.  Adam laughed at the halibut whose eyes are on the same side of its head, but the one eye ‘travels’ to the other side.  “Freaky”
Then they wandered over to the Southern California/Baja Gallery showing an array of sea life; kelp, spiny lobsters and jellyfish; leading into a water tunnel where you can watch and ‘play’ with the seals and sea lions.  “They are so cute”, Chelsey blurted.
At the other end of the tunnel, was a door that led to Lorikeet Forest.  It was an outdoor interactive aviary containing over a hundred lorikeets that you could feed if you purchased the nectar that they ate.  They would come right up to you and sit on your hand, sometimes many of them at once.
“Oh mom, look”, Chelsey squealed as the small bird sat on her arm as she fed it some nectar.
“Adam”, Kris yelled as three Lorikeets landed on his shoulder, beginning to chew on his hair.
“Can’t blame them, baby.  You’re tasty”, Adam teased, causing a glare from Pam.
He shooed the birds away and then one landed on top of his head.  Kris laughed as Adam ran in a circle, “It better not poop on me.”
The boys were most looking forward to Shark Lagoon where they had over 150 different sharks and Rays, and some that you could touch.  Kris ran over to the fish fountain that squirted water when you pushed the button, getting Adam wet.  “Hey”, he yelled, luring Kris into its path, soaking him as well.  Then they ran over to the ‘shark’ and pushed its button that blew air to dry off.
“Alright, come on you two”, Pam urged.  They went over to the touch pools and Kris knelt down at the Stingray’s and felt one.  “Ew, Adam, come here”, he said.  “Feel this guy.”
Adam knelt down beside him and touched the creature, “Feels slimy, like squishy rubber”, he giggled.
The rest of the family was at the shark touching pool.  “Adam, Kris”, mom called.  They walked over to them.
“Look at these sharks.” Brent commented excitedly.
“We can really touch them?”  Adam asked hesitantly.
“Yeah, they’re cool.”
Adam put his hand in the water and touched a zebra shark.  “Wow”, he said.  “Feels like sandpaper.”
“Doesn’t look like a zebra”, Kris commented about one of the sharks.
“No, the display says the adults lose their stripes and sometimes are called leopard sharks instead.”
There were interactive displays throughout the exhibit, where they learned fascinating facts about the sharks.  Apparently they are very misunderstood creatures.
They walked by a tank of the more deadly species.  “Can’t touch those”, Pam said as they viewed the scary Sawfish, Sand Tiger and Nurse sharks.
Once they had seen everything at Sharks Lagoon, they went upstairs to the second level of the SOCAL/Baja gallery with a larger variety of stingrays as well as some shovelnose guitarfish and the upper level of the seal/sea lion enclosure.
From there they entered the Northern Pacific Gallery which mainly covered habitats of the Bering Sea.  Their favorite part was the Sea Otter exhibit and the giant Pacific Octopus and these really cool sea stars, some which have in excess of twenty arms and beautiful colors.
Then, they went into the Tropical Pacific Gallery with the only live coral reef exhibit and over 1000 different colorful fish as well as seahorses and sea.  Kris saw a clownfish and pointed, “Look, its Nemo”, he laughed.
Adam just rolled his eyes at him, “Dork.”
They were having such a great time that Adam had mostly forgotten about his mom and the money.  He looked happy, having fun with his family.
It took them a couple of hours to get through all of the exhibits they wanted to see. They went back to the first level to catch some of the things they had missed as well as a quick run through the gift shop.
Once they were completely finished at the aquarium, everyone was starving, so they decided to stay in Long Beach for dinner.  They drove to Alamitos Bay Marina and parked the car.  They had wanted to try Buster’s Beach House for dinner.
They ordered Coconut Shrimp and Thai Chicken lettuce wraps for starters to share.   For dinner, Kris ordered the Mumbo Jumbo Combo with the Barbados Crab Cakes and the Tempura Coconut Shrimp meal.  “What, I love shrimp”, was his answer when Chelsey reminded him that they were getting the same thing as an appetizer.
Adam and Brent decided to each get the long board pizza, shaped like a surfboard with their choice of three toppings.  Dad got the Buster’s Prime rib and both Pam and Chelsey chose the Jamaican Jerk Chicken.
When their meal came, Adam still looked relaxed, so no one wanted to bring up the morning’s events.
After dinner, they walked around Long Beach and went into some of the shops.  Brent and Kris found a surf shop they wanted to see.  They were in awe over the selection of boards and wet suits.  The sales clerk asked if they needed help.  They told him that they wanted to learn to surf.  He suggested Santa Monica just like the guys at the beach had told Brent.
After a really long day, they got back into their car and drove back to their hotel in Hollywood.  Adam slept the whole way.  He was exhausted.  He laid his head on Kris’s shoulder, while Kris petted his hair and kissed his cheek.
When they got back to the suite, Pam insisted that everyone get into their pajamas and meet back in the living room for a movie.  The hotel had a great selection of on-demand movies.
Adam and Kris agreed, and went to their room to shower and change.  “Adam?”
“Yeah Kris?”
“I think you should keep that money.”
“What about mom and dad?”
“So, give them a little, but keep the rest for yourself.  Just think of what you could do with it.”
“I don’t know.  It doesn’t feel like it’s mine.”
“But just think, we could get a nice place together some day.”
“So, you want the money for yourself?”  He asked accusingly.
“No”, Kris defended.
“Why don’t you take it then, Kris, if it means so much to you?” Adam was getting angrier.
“Adam!”
“If having money is that important to you, it’s yours, Kris.”  Adam didn’t even know what he was saying, he was just angry.
“That’s not what I meant”, Kris sounded hurt.  “We could use it, for our future…  Together.”
Adam stood there, red faced, trying not to cry again.  “I’m sorry, baby.  I didn’t mean that.”
Kris knew that, but he was really stung by those words.  “I know you didn’t.”
“I’m just really confused.”
Kris wrapped Adam into his arm, “Its ok.  It’s going to be ok.”
Adam just nodded, letting Kris comfort him.  “Come on, let’s go”, Kris finally said and they finished getting dressed.
They left their room, feeling silly walking down the hall in their pajama pants, even though no one saw them.  They arrived at the suited giggling at each other’s attire.
“Oh good, you’re here.”  Pam ushered them into the living room where Ron and Brent were waiting for Chelsey and the snacks.
They boys snuggled together on the love seat and once Chelsey joined them with popcorn and mini pizzas, they started the movie.
“The Hangover, really?”
“Yeah, we’re all grownups now”, Pam chuckled.
They enjoyed the movie and each other’s company.  Adam really felt lucky to be in this family.  He wondered if everything worked out the way it was supposed to.  Maybe he should keep the money.  Kris was right; they’d be set for life to pursue whatever dreams they each had.  They both deserved that.
Adam nuzzled in closer to Kris and mentally thanked him.  Kris, always knowing what was on Adam’s mind, looked over to him and nodded.
~~~~

After the movie was over, the boys said goodnight and went back to their room.  “Good thing we packed pajamas”, Adam giggled.  “Would have been embarrassing to show up how we usually sleep”.

“Yeah, I don’t think mom would have appreciated that too much”, Kris responded.

“Kris”, Adam said, being serious again.

“Yeah?”

“I’m really sorry about earlier tonight.  I didn’t mean any of that.”  He said on the bed feeling ashamed.

“Oh Adam, I know that.”  Kris sat next to him, petting his hair.

He looked over to his boy, “How can I make it up to you?”  He asked with puppy eyes.

Kris got an evil grin on his face that could only mean one thing.  “Well…”

“Ok baby”, Adam giggled.  “I’m all yours.”

Between BL and Deb's R66, I feel like I'm getting a cool worldly education right here in my own home LOL!! I can't even imagine how a halibet's eyes 'travel' (omg)

I think it was sweet how the Martins rallyed and helped Adam get his mind off of things. I never imagined tho that he'd inherited THAT MUCH! Leila was...strange, but I still feel like the future is what counts, and I now Adam's family will support him in whatever decision he makes.

I read the drabble first, but I still really enjoyed these two updates bb! Thank you for putting them up!!! *hugs*

Kris & Adam are so good for each other. The Martins are also so good for Adam. Adam ended up in the best household for him. Good that the Martins didn't just see $$, when Adam got that money. They will help him make good thought out decisions and secure his future!

Holy Shit! 2.3 million. I'm just as confused about it as Adam. To have him suffer like that, to be forced into prostitution by his own mother and then for this ... and not even an 'I loved you' in that damn letter. I can see def why he doesn't want it but I also see the reasons to keep it.

On the edge of my seat. maybe talking to Joan will help him decide
