Word Count: 2425
Rating: NC-17/R for the whole story
never happened, just in my imagination, based on real people, I don't own them. Amanda is mine, I love that woman. The Martins are mine, too.
Warnings: underage sex, m/m sex, mention of underage prostitution and child abuse/neglect, homophobia.
Kris has been in the same foster family since he was three. He's a very happy, well adjusted child, but beginning to feel different. Adam is a troubled teen, in and out of group and foster homes and on the street, forced to do things, no child should ever have to go through.
This is the story of them. A Kradam Love Story.
This is a lot different that anything else I've written, there will be some angst. It will break your heart at times, it did mine, but bear with me, it definitely get's better and happier and eventually sexier. I have no idea how long it will be, around 100 chapters. I'll try an update once or twice a week. I hope you enjoy it. Please comment, it makes me happy.
Brotherly Love - Chapter 97
The next morning, both Tommy and Adam awoke to the sound of voices in the kitchen and the smell of coffee brewing.
Tommy got there first and grabbed a cup and filled it with the steaming brew, without even noticing who the voices belonged to. "Man, I think I'm hung over", he said, sitting at the table and staring at his cup.
Adam arrived just a minute or so later, looking a little better and a tad more chipper that Tommy. "Hey Kenny", he said.
That made Tommy look up.
"Were you here last night?" Adam questioned, remembering that it was only the three of them walking to Devon's place.
"Just stopped by for breakfast", Kenny gave a weak smile, glancing at Devon.
"Oh, that’s cool", he poured himself a cup of coffee and sat next to Tommy. He seemed convinced by Kenny, but Tommy wasn't. He’d gotten a brief vision from last night, but wasn’t really sure what he saw or rather, heard.
"So, what's for breakfast?" Adam asked.
"Coffee", Devon replied, pointing to their cups.
"Great", Adam thought, hungrily.
"I'm kidding, Adam", he chuckled. "I'm making omelets."
"That sounds fantastic."
Tommy just groaned, while Kenny jumped up to help Devon with breakfast.
"So, great party last night", Tommy decided to start something.
"Yeah, it was”, Devon replied, cheerfully.
“So you two are officially college graduates, what's next?" Tommy continued.
“Um, graduate school”, Devon offered.
“Really, here?” Adam asked this time.
“New York”, Kenny answered for him.
“That’s great”, Adam looked from Kenny back to Devon. “Where did you get in?”
“NYU. I just got my acceptance the other day.”
“What about you, Kenny?” Tommy asked.
“I got offered a part in an off Broadway production”, Kenny cleared his throat, emphasizing the ‘off’.
“That’s incredible; for both of you.” Adam was genuinely happy for his friends.
“So, you’ll be living together?” Tommy pressed.
All three guys looked at Tommy like he had an extra head.
“Um, I’ll be living near campus”, Devon offered, then abruptly changed the subject. “Adam, my apartment will be available in a couple of weeks. You and Tommy should move in here for next semester. There are two bedrooms”, he pointed out.
“That’s not a bad idea”, Adam thought out loud. “It hasn’t been rented out yet?”
"Nope", Devon replied. “My roommate and I will both be out by the end of the month.”
"What do you think, Tommy?"
"What's it cost?" Tommy grumbled.
"Tommy, we don't have to worry about the money", Adam assured him.
"I do", he sort of glared at Adam.
"We'll work it out?" Adam pleaded. He wanted to call Kris immediately and tell him the fantastic news.
"I just have to transfer the lease to you guys and get the landlord to approve you."
"That shouldn't be a problem", Adam assured him.
Tommy worried his lip, but he knew that Adam was looking out for him. "Ok, but I have to check with my parents first."
"It's not that expensive, in fact it was more cost effective for me to share this than stay at the dorm", Devon insisted.
"Well, I think it's settled then. Man, it'll be so good living off campus, don't you think, Tommy?"
"Yeah, Ok Adam", Tommy giggled. It would be great, actually. He could have Dani over, Kris would probably move in… “Uh, the bedrooms aren’t right next to each other are they?” He snorted.
“I can’t wait to tell Kris!”
“Great, I’ll get papers from my landlord for you sign.”
“Awesome! Thanks, Devon.”
He just shrugged. It had been a great place, but now it was time to move on.
“We’d better get going. I promised Kris I’d be home early today.”
“Alright, we’ll see you on Saturday, right?”
“Yeah, sounds like fun. Oh, and thanks for breakfast.”
As they were walking outside to Tommy’s car, he asked, “What’s Saturday night?”
“Oh, Devon is taking Kris and me to a drag club. Hey, do you want to come too?”
“Uh, no that’s ok. I think the first time you go should be just with, uh…”
“My gay friends?” He looked strangely at Tommy.
“Uh, Yeah. But I’ll go with you next time, alright?” He promised.
Adam knew that Tommy didn’t mean anything by that, and he was probably right. It was a gay club, and even though Tommy was totally cool, he wasn’t gay.
“So, I’m pretty sure that Kenny slept over last night”, Tommy blurted.
“He said he just came over for breakfast.”
“Yeah, we were all drinking last night and you think he got up early to come over and have breakfast with us? I heard the door open as I was passing out last night. I didn’t see who it was but…”
“You know, last night at the party, I caught Devon making out with someone, but they hid when the door opened, so I couldn’t see who they were”, he remembered. “Wow, you really think?”
Tommy just nodded, “Yeah, I think”, he chuckled.
“Why are they being so secretive about it? It’s not like we’d care or anything.”
The conversation moved to their new apartment. “So, I wonder when we can get in.”
“I’m sure they clean it before the next person moves in, so maybe in a few weeks? I still have to talk to my parents.”
“Let’s get the paperwork and look it over first, so you can tell them exactly what it will cost. Maybe it’s no more than the dorm?”
“Ok. So, I bet Kris will be excited.”
“I can’t wait to tell him. You are ok with this, right? I mean, Kris will be there a lot, but not all the time.”
“Adam, I know that. I have no problem at all with Kris being there”, he assured.
“Ok, good. Dani can stay when she’s in town, too.”
“Yeah, it’ll be great. And, we can have parties.”
Tommy pulled into the Martin’s driveway and Adam got out of the car. “See you tomorrow, Tommy.”
He waved and Tommy drove off.
Adam went into the house, which was still empty. “Good”, he thought to himself. He wanted to be home before Kris and surprise him this time.
"So, you think that Kenny was making out with Devon last night and then snuck in his apartment to sleep with him." Kris and Adam were lying on Kris's bed, talking about his revelation about his two friends. "Huh."
Adam just shrugged. "I don't know why they don't just tell us."
"Well, they must have their reasons. So does that mean that Kenny is coming with us Saturday night?"
"I don't know. Devon never mentioned him, but he did say ‘we’ll see you on Saturday’. You know what I don’t understand?"
“Devon just came out himself this year. Why would he want to put himself back in the closet for someone else?”
“Maybe he understands him because he did just come out.”
“Adam, I think there are far more interesting things we can do than talk about Devon and Kenny.”
“Mm, like what, baby?”
“Like, kiss me.”
Pam came home a few minutes later and called upstairs. “Are you two home?”
“Yeah mom, we’ll be down in a minute”, Adam yelled down to her. They hadn’t been naked or anything, just making out on the bed. Adam pinned Kris to the bed and kissed him one last time. “Oh my God, I totally forgot to tell you something.”
Kris just looked up at him, slightly debauched from all the kissing.
“Tommy and I are taking over Devon’s apartment when he leaves for New York in a couple of weeks.”
“Yeah, but we can talk about it later. Come on.”
Pam had brought in some groceries and was putting them away then the boys came down a few minutes later.
“Hi mom”, they both said, giving her a hug.
“Oh Adam, it’s good to have you home.”
“What about me?” Kris teased, helping her with the bags.
“You, I just saw this morning, sweetie”, she gave Kris a peck on the cheek, making him blush.
“Can we help with dinner?” Adam asked, giggling. He loved seeing Kris blush.
“We’re going out tonight, oh, unless you’d rather have a home cooked meal, Adam.”
“No, going out sounds great, mom.”
“Good. You’re dad will be home soon. Let’s sit down and catch up…”
Adam told both mom and Kris about Devon moving to New York and the apartment being available for the school year.
"You won't miss dorm living?" His mom asked, half kiddingly.
"Uh, no. I want my own bathroom."
"Well, I think it's a great idea, Adam. How much is the rent?”
“Mom, I’m taking care of that, I have money”, he looked at her apologetically. He still didn’t feel right about his money.
She just smiled at him, knowingly. “But, you still want to be smart with it.”
“Devon said it costs about the same as the dorm.”
“It sounds perfect, Adam.”
Kris was awfully quiet about it. He was afraid he’d say something incriminating or inappropriate, so he just kept his glee to himself, for now.
Just then, Ron came home and after cleaning up, the four Martins left for a nice dinner.
Kris had school in the morning, so Adam decided to hang out with his mom for the day. She had to go into work for a while, so he went with her. Amanda was glad to see him and even put him to work. “You know, Adam. Since Bryson’s been gone, we have a lot of extra work to do. How would you like a part-time summer job?”
“Yeah, you’d be helping us out a great deal.”
It was mostly filing and answering phones, but it was a better gig than the pool. The pool; he thought about Kris and how he’d feel.
“Um, I don’t know, it’s just that Kris and I usually work together at the swim club and…”
“I understand, Adam. Just think about it, ok?”
He really wanted to work here, but…
Pam was able to leave around noon, so she and Adam went out for lunch in the city. They ate a cute little café where a lot of office workers patronize during the week. “So, what do you think about working at the agency this summer, Adam?”
“Mom, I’d love to, but I don’t want to hurt Kris’s feelings. We always spend time together at the pool and, I don’t know.”
“But, you’d like to?”
“Sure, it was fun today. And it’s more money. But I also don’t want to spend all summer inside an office.”
“Well, try and let Amanda know as soon as possible, alright?” She knew this was hard on Adam.
“I will. So you’re alright with me getting an apartment?”
“Adam, you’re nineteen. You can make this decision, but yes. I think it’s a great idea. You’ll have more room to study.”
“But, you’ll also have more distractions.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, Kris will want to spend all his time with you”, she said with a smile on her face.
“Did you see him today when I was telling you about the apartment? I thought he was going to explode.”
“Yeah, I did. Just remember that you are still going to school.”
“Mom, I know. Tommy and I will keep each other focused. I promise.”
“Good, I know you will. Now, we have to talk about our summer vacation.”
“Oh, we just went to the beach over spring break, so I thought that…”
“Your dad and I had an idea, but I’m wondering if you guys are too old.”
“What’s that?” He wondered.
“No, silly. Florida.”
“Oh. Wow, really?”
“Well, this might be the last year that we go away as a family and…”
“Didn’t you say that last year?” Adam chuckled.
Pam shrugged, “Probably.”
“Well, I think it’s a great idea. Did you tell Kris yet?”
“Not yet. We can tell him tonight.”
“Ok. This sounds like so much fun. I love Mickey Mouse”, Adam giggled.
“There’s so much to do there. We never had the chance when you boys were younger, but...”
“No time like the present, right mom?”
They drove home after lunch and just beat Kris home. They were planning on staying in tonight because tomorrow they had plans with Devon.
Pam started dinner while the boys went upstairs so Adam could tell him about his day. He wanted to bring up the job, but was afraid that Kris would be upset. “So, what are the plans for this summer, baby?” He asked instead.
“I was going to ask you about this, but I was thinking of not working at the pool this summer. “
Adam about choked, “You were?”
“Yeah, would you be mad?”
“Of course not, baby, but why?”
“I’d like a summer just to have fun. I know you’re going to work, so don’t worry about that, but…”
“You’re going to be a senior next year, and you want to kick back this summer.”
“Yeah, something like that. I’m doing a couple baseball camps, too.”
“I’m actually relieved.”
“Why? Don’t you want me at the pool with you?” He teased.
“Amanda offered me a part time job at the agency and I was thinking about taking it, but I didn’t want you to be upset.”
“That’s great. But it’s just part time, right?”
“Yeah, I don’t want to work all summer either, baby.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too, Kris.” He took him into his arms and they just hugged.
