Brotherly Love - Chapter 109

Normally, Three days in Disney wouldn’t be enough, except they’d already spent seven there and had seen most everything, except all of the restaurants.  However, there was no way to do that in three days, so Ron had the kids and Pam pour over the list of restaurants and then pick their favorites.  “We get three breakfasts, three lunches and three dinners”, he reminded his family.

They made their choices, planning the rest of their stay around the food, beginning with Chef Mickey’s Character breakfast at the Contemporary Hotel the next morning.  Since they were so close to Magic Kingdom, they decided to revisit some of their favorite rides, like Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain and the Haunted Mansion.  This time Kris sat with Adam and they held hands the entire time.  “This time’s better, huh baby?”  Adam kissed his cheek, giggling at his blushing boyfriend.

Lunch found them at Garden Grove at the Swan Hotel for a delicious Prime Rib Melt and Reuben Sandwiches, along with soup and salad.  After lunch, the Martins walked around that area of Disney, visiting some of the other hotels.  They travelled by boat as much as they could.  It was very easy to get around the complex.

Pam had heard about Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian at their Garden View Tearoom.  “I’ve always wanted to do this”, she told Chelsey as they were seated and handed a selection of teas and tiny sandwiches.  Even the boy’s enjoyed the relaxing ambiance.
After tea, the Martins headed back into the Magic Kingdom to spend the evening watching the parades.  They ended up back at the Polynesian Resort at Ohana’s for Hawaiian cuisine beginning with bread and salad, the entrée was skewers of your choice of chicken, steak, pork or shrimp served with either Teriyaki noodles or stir fried vegetables and dessert was bread pudding.  Afterwards, they headed over their favorite spot to watch the fireworks and then swimming back at the villa.

The next morning, they trekked over to the Animal Kingdom for breakfast at the Boma – Flavor’s of Africa Restaurant and walked through some of the exhibit’s they’d missed last time they were there.  Then it was time to head over to Epcot.  They had lunch in Mexico and dinner in Norway for a buffet at the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall for an authentic Scandinavian feast.  After dinner, they walked over to the World Showcase Lagoon to get ready for the night time event and fireworks, IllumiNations before heading back home.

Ron advised everyone to skip the swim tonight and turn in early because he had a surprise bright and early for their last full day.

The alarm went off early, causing groans throughout the villa as the family reluctantly got up to the smell of coffee brewing.  “So, where to, dad?”

“Surfing”, he announced.  He’d actually made the reservation for the last day, right after their first time in Typhoon Lagoon.

“Really dad?”  Chelsey was practically jumping out of her skin.  She had such a crush on her Prince Charming.

“You should probably ask him out, Chels, since it’s our last night”, Brent teased.

“Yeah, I should…” she thought, out loud.

“Well gang, let’s go.”

Bus service started early at Disney, fortunately, and took them over to the water park.  Chelsey was bouncing, but then she reminded herself that he probably treated all of the ladies like that and might not even remember her this time.

However, he noticed her right away as the family entered the lesson area.  “Chelsey”, he called, running over to them.

“Hi”, she squealed.  “Uh, uh, I don’t know your name”, she said, embarrassed.

“I’m Prince Charming, remember?” he flirted.

Then he reached his arm out to her, “My name is Derrick”, he told her, shaking her hand.

“Nice to meet you Derrick”, she blushed.

“It’s good to see you again, Chelsey.”

She just nodded, while her brothers snickered a few feet away.

“Ask him out”, Brent coughed into his hand.

Chelsey turned around, glaring at him.  “Um …”

“So, I have tonight off”, he said.

“You do?”  Chelsey grinned.

“Would you like to go out with me?”  He asked.

Beaming, Chelsey nodded her head.  “I’d love to.”

“Great, where are you staying?”

They exchanged information, while the group gathered for their short lesson.  They all had the hang of it by now and were up on their boards riding waves immediately.  That didn’t stop Derrick from coming over to check on Chelsey anyway.

On their way out, Derrick kissed Chelsey on the cheek, “See you tonight”, he winked.

Chelsey tried not to melt right there.

“Wow, you have a date, good one, Chels,” Brent slapped her on the back.

“Oh my God, I can’t believe that just happened. “

“Well, unless you want to bring him with us tonight, you’re going to miss out on the Hoop-Dee-Do Musical Revue”, Pam informed her.

“Ya know, mom?  I think I’ll pass”, Chelsey grinned.

They went back to the villa to change and then had breakfast at the Grand Floridian Resorts, 1900 Park Fare for a big breakfast buffet with Mary Poppins and the characters from Alice in Wonderland.  There was a bagel station and a variety of eggs and breakfast meats and Kris was able to get Lobster Eggs Benedict.  After breakfast, they walked down to the hotel’s dock and rented three mini power boats for a couple of hours and did a tour of the main lake, taking them between all of the Magic Kingdom resorts.

After returning the boats they took the bus over to Disney’s Boardwalk area and had lunch at the Big River Grill and Brewing Works.  In the afternoon, they headed back to the villa for a swim and then Chelsey got ready for her big date.  Derrick was picking her up at the Villa and taking her to Downtown Disney for dinner and a club.  Pam had never seen her so excited.

“So, you get to go out and party while we have to watch hoop di hoop musical show”, Kris said, rolling his eyes.

“It’s the Hoop-Dee-Do Musical Revue, Kris”, Pam corrected him.

“Oh yeah, sounds like a hoot.”

“Does everyone feel this way?”  Ron asked the boys.

Adam and Brent just shrugged.  “If it’s what you want to do, its fine, dad.”

Pam and Ron looked at each other and then at the boys.  “I have a better idea…”  Ron picked up his phone and made a reservation, leaving everyone to wonder what he was up to.

Derrick came to pick up Chelsey,   dressed very handsomely in plaid dress shorts and a yellow polo.  He was very polite and told Ron and Pam that he’d have her home by eleven.

“And where are you going tonight?” Pam asked the young man.

“Downtown Disney.  I want to show Chelsey where the locals hang out.”

“Well, have fun you two.”

After Chelsey left with Derrick, the remaining five Martin’s took the bus over to the Dolphin hotel where Ron had made reservations at Shula’s Steakhouse.   He’d almost booked them at Todd English’s Seafood restaurant, but the girl on the telephone assured him that if they wanted surf n turf or lobster, that Shula’s was the best, and that their steaks were fantastic.  It was settled.

They were seated with a beautiful view of the fountain and since it was their last night, they were going to splurge.

“Welcome to the Perfect Season Restaurant”, the perky waitress greeted them.

“The Perfect Season, I thought it was called Shula’s”, Adam whispered to Kris.

Brent who was on the other side of him giggled, “No man, look,” he pointed to the pictures decorating the walls of the restaurant of the 1972 Dolphin’s undefeated football team and their coach, Don Shula.

“Wait, I get it, Shula’s.  He owns the place?” Brent and Kris both snickered as the waitress went on to tell the story of that incredible year.
“We celebrate a perfect season here every night with…”  She began her spiel of the specials and specialties of the restaurant.

As delicious as everything sounded, everyone ordered the surf n turf, except Kris, who couldn’t resist the four pound Maine Lobster.  For appetizers, they shared a couple of ordered of Shrimp Cocktail and Jumbo Lump Crab Cake while waiting for their entrées.

They watched in awe, as their meals were delivered to the table by a cart.  “Wow, Kris.  Will you be able to eat all of that?”

“Oh yeah”, Kris rubbed his hands together and made ridiculous faces as the waiter placed his meal on the table and then handed him a bib and crackers.  “Enjoy”, the young man said, winking at Kris.

“Baby, I think our waiter is flirting with you.”

“Nah, I like knowing that he can look but only I can touch”, Adam winked.

“You two really are disgustingly sweet, you know that?”  Brent said as he dug into his medium rare Filet Mignon and lobster tail.

There was barely any conversation as the group watched Kris attack his lobster; butter dripping down his chin.  “What?”  He looked up to four enthralled stares.  “It’s really good”, he said, mouth stuffed.

“I can see that.”

“This is much easier”, Adam said of his rock lobster tail, already out of its shell.

“Yeah, but this is more fun”, Kris declared, as the found some meat inside the claw.

After their fabulous meal, they decided to forgo dessert and walked about the water and over to the boardwalk area.  The end of the evening found them at Seashore Sweets for ice cream and Pam bought some home made fudge to take home the next day.  Then they headed over to Hollywood Studios to see their fireworks display with pyrotechnics and a water show.  It was the perfect ending to their vacation.  They only wished that Chelsey could have been with them.

Chelsey was having her own magic with Derrick.  He was a perfect gentleman and showed her a wonderful time.  He was a graduate student at the Tulane University in Louisiana and spent his summers at Disney.  His family was from Florida.  They learned that their schools were only a couple of hours apart.

First, he took her to the Front Porch outdoor bar next to the House of Blues, for drinks and live entertainment and then dinner at Cap’n Jacks with a lovely view of the water.

“How do you like fireworks, Chelsey?”  Derrick asked, while sipping on an after dinner Margaritas at the dockside bar.

“Love em, we’ve been going to Magic Kingdom almost every night”, she told him.

“Great, then I have a treat for you.”

After they finished their drinks, they headed over to Hollywood Studios where Derrick explained they had the most awesome fireworks and water laser show.  “It lasts a whole thirty minutes.”

“Sounds incredible.”

They arrived at a great spot to watch the show.  After taking their seats, Chelsey snuggling up next to her date, he noticed a group of people walking towards them.  “Hey Chels?”

“Yeah?” She answered, dreamily; having the time of her life.

“Isn’t that your family?”

She sat up and glared in their direction.  “Yeah, should we hide?”

“Of course not, let’s invite them over”, he suggested.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes”, he said, standing up.  “Hey there”, he called, Chelsey joining him.

“Chelsey, this is a quite coincidence.”

“Please join us”, Derrick asked the group.

“Are you sure we’re not cramping your style?”

“Absolutely not”, he assured the Martins.  Chelsey didn’t look quite as happy.  She was hoping they’d be alone and maybe she’d get a kiss.

Adam picked up on her mood immediately as sat down next to his sister, pulling Kris to him.  “Now you know how we feel all the time”, he snickered.
“Yeah, payback’s a bitch, huh?” Kris added.

She had to admit it was a little funny.

They all enjoyed the magical display as they watched both the sky and the water light up to the sounds of Disney songs performed by live characters.
After it was over, the Martins left Chelsey and Derrick and hopped on the bus back to the villa for one last late night swim.

Chelsey arrived about thirty minutes later and finally got that kiss at the front door.  They exchanged numbers and then he left.  Chelsey walked down to the pool to join her family in the hot tub one last time.

“He’s very nice, Chelsey”, Pam told her.

“Yeah, he really is.”

“Chelsey’s in love”, Brent teased her.

Then she shrugged, “We had a really good time.  I just wish it wasn’t our last night,” she sighed.

“Well gang, we better get a good night sleep.  We’re having breakfast at the resort and then we have a plane to catch.”

When they got back to the villa, the boys went into their bedroom and Adam closed the door.  “I’m going to miss this room.”

Kris blushed.  He knew what Adam meant.  They’d be back to separate rooms at home, and then Adam would go back to school.  “Your apartment”, he remembered.

“Our apartment, baby.  With Tommy,” he added.

“Oh right.”

“We’ll have plenty of time to be alone.”

“When mom lets me stay with you,” he shrugged.

Adam walked over to his boyfriend and curled his arms around him.  “I love you.”

“Please, Adam…”

“Morning, Martins,” Dad knocked on doors, waking everyone in the house.  “Time to get up.”

“Ugh”, Kris said, into Adam’s chest, breathing in the scent of him.  “I want to stay in here with you,” he whined.

“I know, baby,” Adam kissed him on the lips, taking him in.  “We have a few minutes, right?”  He rolled over on top of Kris, pressing his morning wood into him.

Giggling, Kris wrapped his legs around Adam and welcomed him inside of him.

After a quick and mostly quiet lovemaking session, the boys jumped in the shower and then dressed.  Everyone met in the kitchen for coffee while they waited for the bell hop to bring a cart for their bags.

“Well gang”, he said, ushering them out the door.  “This is it.  Say goodbye to our vacation home.”

Mom walked though one last time to make sure they weren’t leaving anything and then shut the door with a sigh.

They decided to walk back to the main hotel while the bellhop took their bags by golf cart.  He had them waiting at the bus stop when the Martins arrived.  They wanted to enjoy the last few minutes of their trip, walking through the lush greenery, overlooking the water.  “It’s so pretty,” Pam said, wishing they didn’t have to leave.

“Well, we still have one meal left.  I have a surprise,” Ron told them, as he walked over to the bus stop.

“Where are we going dad?”  Brent asked.

“You’ll see”, he said, as the bus arrived, climbing aboard.  “Polynesian,” he told the driver.

“When they arrived at the luxury hotel which had become their favorite evening spot, Ron ushered the group off the bus.  “I heard the Kona Café has the best breakfast at Disney.”

“Mm, sounds great, dad.”

“I know it’s kind of far, but…”

“No, dad this is great, we love it here.”

They walked through the tropically decorated lobby of the Polynesian over to the Kona Café.  They were seated and brought menus.  “Wow, everything looks amazing”, Pam said, looking over the choices.

Their waitress came over and took their beverage orders and recommended some of their specials, including the Tonga Toast which was Banana stuffed Sourdough French Toast.

Adam and Ron chose that, while Pam and Chelsey opted for the Macadamia-Pineapple pancakes and Kris and Brent couldn’t resist the Big Kahuna, which was both French Toast and Pancakes with Pineapple sauce and Macadamia Nut Butter.  All their meals came with eggs, bacon and sausage.
By the end of their meal they were completely stuffed.  “I can barely walk”, Kris groaned.

“Good, because we’re skipping lunch and then we’ll have dinner at home this evening,” Ron informed them.

“Wow, it’s weird that in a few hours, we’ll be home.”

After breakfast, they boarded the shuttle back to the Saratoga and reclaimed their luggage.  They had already checked in and gotten their boarding passes for the flight back home, so they boarded the Magical Express back to the airport and went right to their gate.

The family took seats and waited for their flight to be called.  Everyone was full and exhausted and finally ready to go home.

One the plane, Adam and Kris took their seats and settled in.  Chelsey was in the aisle, the rest of the family was in the row behind them.  Kris let Adam take the window seat so he could lean against him and snuggle while they slept.

Before they knew it, they were touching down in Little Rock.
